UNCORKED - Issue 2

Now that you’ve graduated from the U of White Zin, it’s time to drink in the real wine world. Swirl, sniff and sip.

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc
Marlborough, New Zealand, 2003
This fun, funky little number from down under with a screwtop cap features rich flavors of grapefruit & citrus, and has enough grass & acid on the finish to give David Crosby, of Crosby, Stills & Nash, a flashback to the good ol’ days. Cost: Approx. $6-$9/glass.

Foley Chardonnay
Santa Barbara County, California, 2002
To truly experience and appreciate the quality, passion, and indescribable representation of “terroir” that goes into this bottle, do this: Go pick up a bottle at your local fine wine shop, buy a ticket to see “Sideways,” sneak the bottle into the theater, and enjoy with a big bucket of popcorn. Extra butter. Cost: Approx. $25/bottle.

Darioush Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California, 2001
Built from the remains of the ancient Persian capital Persopolis, Darioush is one of the up and coming producers in Napa Valley. This wickedly good cab has a scintillating nose, spicy personality, voluptuous body, and long, sexy legs that go all the way to heaven. Good enough to pour all over yourself - and someone else. Cost: Approx. $60-$100/bottle.
